Right Around The Corner

On Sunday evening, may the 4th, we invite you to enjoy two live performances right around the corner:

RURAL TAPES
Rural Tapes is the moniker of the Norwegian producer Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen. He has released 4 albums and received wide coverage in international music press ever since his debut in 2021. MOJO referred to the project as a hybrid between Kraftwerk, Tortoise, Air and Serge Gainsbourg, and musicians like Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate) and Gary Olson (The Ladybug Transistor) have contributed to the albums. The project exists in several formats; live, Rural Tapes is most often a quartet, but Kjelsrud Mathisen also performs solo, with clear nods to Terry Riley or Harmonia and Cluster, and this spring he embarks on a tour in Europe with improvised solo concerts.
On April 25th, “Alien Territories vol. 1” will be released, the first in a series of cassette releases from Rural Tapes. This release consists of long stretches of tape experiments and loops recorded on old tape echo machines, and for the concert at Empty Brain Resort, Kjelsrud Mathisen will bring tape machines, dictaphones and synths to perform an improvised set of ambient and droney soundscapes.

MIKALOJUS SMULSKIS
I and your ears will immerse themselves in the chaos created by modular synthesis. The chaos that defies control and forces you to be in dialogue with the instrument itself.
