Los Siquicos Litoraleños

Los Siquicos Litoraleños (The psychics of el Litoral) is a collective from Argentina originally from Curuzù Cuatiá: a city of northeast Argentina in Corrientes, an area known (not by chance) el Litoral, whose inhabitants are known as Litoraleños. From this tropical and torrid land (from 47°F to 90°F, Wind E at 19 km/h, 70% Humidity ), Los Siquicos Litoraleños developed their unique language, slowly building their own aesthetic in the shape of a surreal mythology and vivid mind-bending folklore. Embracing classic acoustic and electric instruments such as guitars and percussions and adding toy keyboards, shortwave radios and all sort of domestic machineries (i.e. washing machines and freezers) stuffed with vast array of sound-damaging e ffects, they craft baffling otherworldly and uncanny tunes which cover the whole span autoctonous well-known genres of tropicalia, cumbiambas, rebajadas and chicha, gaining the title of “el Pink Floyd de los pobres”.

On this occasion this combo wIll be presenting material of a next album to be released on The Hive Mind label: “El Relincho del Tiempo” as well as the classics from their 2013 international debut “Sonido Chipadelico” (Sham Palace) and the more recent “Medianos Exitos Subtropicales vol 1” (Artetetra), and “Radio Siquica” (Sucata tapes).

“Their music is a unique triumph of homegrown rural psychedelia, standing alone on the edge of an unchartered vanguard. Here is the contemporary group you keep hoping exist, but can never find. Mindmelting tropical psych-rock, pitched-down cumbias soaked in dub brine, swirling solar instrumentals, and surrealist shamanic lyrics laid across guitars, drums, tapes and electronics – bringing together multi-fidelity electric and acoustic psychic sound-forms from the greater depths of sound and surprise.’’ Mark Gergis (Porest/Sublime Frequencies)

“These guys are wonky enough to make The Meridian Brothers look like The Everly Brothers – my advice is to get to know them straight away.” Tristan Bath (The Quietus)
